UK Bingo Market Grows

It's been a strong year for Jackpotjoy bingo. In March 2010, Hitwise, who measure the market share of visits to all the country's top bingo sites, confirmed that Jackpotjoy took the lead in the UK's competitive online bingo market for the first time in March 2010.

In April, the site launched a completely new platform, with a new design and a new range of bingo rooms. Despite being prepared to take a hit on their market share as a result of the changes, Experian Hitwise confirmed in June that Jackpotjoy had not only remained in pole position but had, in fact, increased their market share.

On Saturday 9th October, following on from the as yet unclaimed £113million Euro Millions jackpot, Jackpotjoy enjoyed an astonishing 41.94% market share of visits to the Bingo category.

"When there's a big jackpot being won somewhere, we often see a pickup in gambling numbers," explained a spokesperson from the site, "but what's surprising here is our disproportionate share of growth."

On the Saturday, after the Euro Millions jackpot was won, Jackpotjoy celebrated with a 41.94% share of the market, against their nearest competitor who managed just 11.68%.

"Being ahead by almost a third of the entire market share really is an astonishing achievement, and something that we genuinely didn't expect at this stage in the campaign.

"There were a large number of players on Saturday simply because a lot of people were thinking about gambling after the big jackpot win. But what's reassuring is that, even in such a saturated bingo market and at this early stage in the campaign, almost half of the bingo playing population of the UK were thinking of Jackpotjoy."
